次世代Xboxコンソールのプロジェクト名は「Project Helix」に

本日、米Microsoftが、次世代Xboxコンソールのプロジェクト「Project Helix」を正式に発表しました。

「Project Helix」はあくまでプロジェクト名で、「Helix」は”螺旋”や”渦状”といった意味があり、ロゴも螺旋状を模したデザインになっています。

また、新たにゲーム部門CEOに就任したAsha Sharma氏によると、「Project Helix」はパフォーマンス面でのリードし、Xbox向けタイトルだけでなくPCゲームもプレイ可能になることが分かっています。

なお、過去の情報から、次世代Xboxは2027年に投入されるとみられています。

また、Windows 11ベースのゲーミングPCになるとの情報もあり、Xboxゲームの資産とWindowsゲームの資産を統合したプラットフォームになる可能性があると言われており、名前の「Helix (螺旋)」がXboxゲームとPCゲームの融合のことを意味しているのかもしれません。
